Errol Spence sparring partner praises his boxing IQ

Errol Spence Jr. and Terence Crawford, are two undefeated and highly regarded boxing superstars, who hold between them all four world titles in the illustrious division of welterweight. Sepnce Jr., holds the WBA, WBC, and IBF welterweight titles, whereas Crawford holds the WBO welterweight title. While most fight fans await the Saturday, July 29 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on pay-per-view - many wish they could be a fly on the wall for the lead-up to the fight. Thankfully, ProBox TV News got some exclusive insight from one of the key people involved in Spence's training camp.

ProBox TV News recently caught up with Quinton Randall, an undefeated welterweight who gave Spence a lot of rounds prior to his recent eight-round win over Willie Jones, on the untelevised portion of the Showtime Championship Boxing telecast on July 15th.

"I am so happy and fortunate to be a part of history," said Randall to ProBox TV News. "[Spence] is a high-IQ thinker. [I have known] that about him, this isn't my first time sparring with him. I sparred with him back in 2018, which is five years ago. So from five years ago to now, he has a very sharp mind. He sees a lot of stuff."

Randall, who was featured on All Access episode one in a brief sparring montage had been in camp with Spence Jr., for a decent amount of time prior to his fight that occurred roughly a week and a half ago. Randall detailed how sparring with the top-ten fight in the world, Spence Jr., in the biggest fight of his career was something that he had predicted prior.

What makes Spence so good? Well, to Randall it is rather simple, despite some stating that Spence isn't a thinker in the ring - Randall disagrees. Randall explains that the fight IQ of Spence is next level, living up to his pedigree as Spence Jr., was a 2012 U.S. Olympian. As the moments get closer to the biggest fight of 2023, Randall gives intimate details as to why Spence is an undefeated unified welterweight champion.

"He is good at setting traps," said Randall. "He has a great jab. I think Errol has the best jab in the sport as far as how many [jabs] he throws and the percentage he lands at. I remember for a long time it was triple G, and Errol was second, but now I think Errol is [first]. He has a great jab, and a high work output. You know what the body shots are like. It is going to be a great fight."

Despite a glowing endorsement of Spence, Randall is quite to praise Crawford as well, as despite being biased, he admits this is a fight that is very close in terms of the talent of both fighters.

"All that being said, Terence Crawford is still a great fighter himself," furthered Randall. "It is going to be a hell of a fight, but I am team Man Down at this point."
