Shakur Stevenson Targets Lightweight World Title After Saturday

This Saturday begins Shakur Stevenson journey in the lightweight division as he faces Shuichiro Yoshino in a 12-round WBC lightweight title eliminator Saturday, April 8, at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, Stevenson’s hometown. 

Stevenson, who is a two-division world champion, who unified the WBO and WBC world titles in the super featherweight division, is now looking to obtain his fourth world title in his third weight class. That journey begins on Saturday night.

“I am taking over the lightweight division and my run will start on April 8 in Newark,” stated Stevenson . “Shuichiro Yoshino is an undefeated fighter who was willing to step up and fight me when so many fighters were scared.”

Stevenson is looking to become a big ticket seller, as this will be his third major fight in Newark, New Jersey since 2019. Stevenson

Though many avoided Stevenson, Yoshino has been grinding his whole career to get to the point to challenge for a world title. Yoshino is hoping this is his moment to shock the world against Shakur Stevenson, a fighter, whom is be hailed as the next pound-for-pound fighter. Can Yoshino pull it off? Yoshino believes so.
