The undercard of the Ryan Garcia versus Oscar Duarte bout taking place in Houston, Texas, had the following action.

21-year-old Floyd “Kid Austin'' Schofield (16-0, 12 KOs) continues to look like one of the best prospects in boxing. Schofield dropped Ricardo “Explosivo” Torres (17-8-3, 12 KOs) four times in round one. Despite only sixteen pro fights this marked Schofield's fourth scheduled ten-round bout.

Middleweight contender Shane Mosley Jr. (21-5, 12 KOs) earned a TKO victory over Joshua Conley (17-6-1, 11 KOs). Mosley looked flat in spots, but came on in the mid rounds which led to Conley retiring in the corner.

Opening the DAZN telecast, Houston's own Darius Fulghum (9-0, 9 KOs) got a seventh-round technical knockout over Pachino “Chino” Hill (8-5-1, 6 KOs). Fulghum won the Olympic Trials at heavyweight, but now is competing at super middleweight as a professional

The prelims saw super bantamweight Asa “Ace” Stevens (6-0, 2 KOs) outbox Dominque Griffin (5-6-2, 2 KOs). The scores were 40-36, across the board. Former Mexican Olympian and bantamweight prospect Gael “El Terror” Cabrera (3-0, 2 KO) got a first-round technical knockout of Alejandro Dominguez (2-1, 1 KO). The bout was stopped at 2:16.
