Sampson Lewkowicz On David Benavidez's Future Fights And Contract

Sampson Lewkowicz is a world-famous boxing promoter, who is now best known for his role in David Benavidez’s career. Lewkowicz was live in Brooks, California, on Friday night for a ShoBox: The Next Generation card that he co-promoted along with Paco Damian of Paco Presents Boxing.

Amongst one of the many questions asked of Lewkowicz was clarification on a statement that Jose Benavidez Sr made about the future of his son, David Benavidez. Benavidez Sr outlined what seemed to be a pretty clear path for the future of David Benavidez in his near future.

“We already have a contract for three fights and that [consists of] Caleb Plant, David Morrell, Boo Boo (Andrade), and a possibility with Charlo,” said Jose Benavidez Sr., to Fight Hub TV.  “…If Charlo doesn’t get his act together, I mean, he hasn’t fought in two years. I’m not gonna wait here to see when he wants to fight. He’s fighting on social media and all that, but that sh!t isn’t making any money for him or for us.”

ProBoxTV exclusively spoke to Sampson Lewkowicz, who was ringside as a swing bout between local attraction Sachery Sam who defeated Anel Duno via a four-round split decision. Lewkowicz clarified the current situation.

Lewkowicz stressed that Benavidez's future plans for the rest of 2023 after his pay-per-view win over Caleb Plant. As of now, it appears no one including the promoter knows what will happen next for David Benavidez until Canelo Alvarez fights on May 6th. David Benavidez is the WBC mandatory for Canelo Alvarez’s WBC super middleweight title. Until Canelo decides what he is doing next - it appears everything else is speculation.

“No, it is not,” when Sampson was asked if David Morrell and Jermall Charlo are next for David Benavidez. “That is fake news.”
