Rumor Mill: A super heavyweight tournament in Saudi Arabia? Prograis vs Haney? More

As we start to head into the summer months of the calendar year, the rumor mill is heating up, as Thursday, April 13th, is one of the most fascinating to date.

  • Talks of a Saudi Arabia Mega Show are reportedly ongoing, which would see Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk for the unified world heavyweight titles, and Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder act as chief support. The event would likely come to fruition at the back end of 2023.
  • An announcement is imminent however for Oleksandr Usyk's next clash, as he gets set to defend against WBA 'Regular' Champion Daniel Dubois in London this summer
  • Anthony Joshua won't fight till the end of 2023 simply because there isn't the demand for him to fight in the UK prior to that. Joshua commands an amount of money to fight that doesn't make commercial sense for a promoter/broadcaster
  • Dillian Whyte vs Otto Wallin could finally happen this summer, with promoter Eddie Hearn looking for a headline-worthy opponent for Whyte.
  • Conor Benn vs Kell Brook could be back on, with Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr being set to square off this June in the UK
  • Despite reports, Devin Haney is unlikely to stay at lightweight after his fight with Vasyl Lomachenko, ruling out a fight with Shakur Stevenson
  • There are no plans for Robeisy Ramirez to face Shakur Stevenson as Top Rank plan on unifying the world featherweight titles, with Ramirez likely facing the winner of Luis Alberto Lopez and Michael Conlan
  • Bob Arum is open to working with Regis Prograis as long as he proves he has no ties to any remnants of Probellum. An option for Prograis could be Devin Haney
  • Saul Alvarez vs Edgar Berlanga is still in play for September according to reports, with possibilities of the bout heading to Madison Square Garden
