Robert Garcia thinks David Benavidez could have beat Andre Ward

When you think of great super middleweight fighters only a few come to the top of the mind.

Joe Calzaghe, Roy Jones Jr., Andre Ward, and James Toney are just a few that jump off the list as some of the greatest to ever fight in that weight class for a long period of time. Elie Seckbach with legendary boxing coach, Robert Garcia, Seckbach on his ESNews YouTube channel asked Robert Garcia if David Benavidez could have beaten Andre Ward

Benavidez is currently the number-one contender for the WBC super middleweight world title held by Canelo Alvarez and is waiting to see what Canelo chooses to do next. Many fight fans are optimistic about the string of great fights being made, maybe we could see Canelo vs. Benavidez.

“[Ward] was such a good boxer, he could have just outsmarted [Benavidez] and [won] a decision," Garcia furthered. "It could have gone either way but I would have picked Benavidez.”

Though we will never see that fight, it is clear Robert Garcia holds David Benavidez in high regard if he believes he could have beaten an all-time great fighter like Andre Ward.
