Duarte, Tudor Thrill On Golden Boy Undercard

In the co-feature, Oscar Duarte stopped Alex Martin in the eighth round in a 136-pound catchweight bout taking place from the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California. Duarte dropped Martin with a right hand in round eight and finished it seconds later with a flurry of punches. The stoppage came at 1:14 of the eighth round when referee Jerry Cantu waived off the contest. Duarte is riding a tenth-fight knockout streak with the win.

Recently signed Golden Boy Promotions junior middleweight Eric Tudor defeated Damoni Cato-Cain of Oakland, California, via an eight-round unanimous decision. In an entertaining bout that saw back-and-forth action, it seemed the amateur experience of Tudor allowed him to edge the majority of the closely contested rounds. In the fourth round, a clash of heads opened up a cut on Tudor’s forehead, that veteran cut man Mike Bazzel did an excellent job stopping. In the end, the judges saw it 78-74 (x2), and 80-72, all in favor of Tudor.

Starting out the DAZN telecast, 2020 Olympic Trials lightweight contestant, now fighting at the super featherweight Dalis Kaleiopu of Hawaii, picked up a six-round unanimous decision over Jonathan Perez of Barranquilla, Colombia, with the scores of 60-52 and all three of the judges scorecards. Perez lost two points in the fight as he was deducted a point for a head butt in round three and another point in round five. Prior To Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez vs. Gabriel Rosado being canceled, Kaleiopu was scheduled to be the main event of the YouTube prelims but was moved up to the DAZN main card telecast, once the main event was canceled.
