Oscar Valdez and Emanuel Navarrete need to fight each other, and thankfully they will. At least according to Mike Coppinger of ESPN.com, who has stated that the two will do battle on August 12th, at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
The fight pits two of the best Mexican fighters of the lower-weight classes against each other. Valdez is a two-division world champion, and Navarette a three-division world champion.
The clash would see Navarrete looking to make the first defense of his WBO super featherweight world title after defeating Liam Wilson in a modern classic that saw Navarette have to get off the deck to win the vacant WBO super featherweight title.
No official announcement has been made, but all signs point to August 12th will be the day the two fight.
