Michael Williams Jr Out of Adrien Broner Fight

On Thursday evening, the father of Michael Williams Jr., Michael Williams Sr., took to his Facebook page to announce that his son would no longer be fighting Adrien Broner on February 25th, as his son had suffered a broken jaw a mere nine days before his scheduled pay-per-view bout.

Though the news has been unconfirmed by BLK Prime and at this time this reporter has been unable to speak with Michael Williams Sr., to elaborate on what he publicly decried all signs point to the fact that Adrien Broner might be looking at his fourth opponent for this card. Broner initially was set to face Ivan Redkach, who retired after issues getting the fight finalized, Hank Lundy stepped in only to be suspended by the CSAC for withdrawing from a fight with Ernesto "Tito" Mercado, and now Michael Williams Jr. appears to be out a little over a week before the scheduled fight.

"First things first.. ROY JONES JR is No Longer one of my sons Trainers [SIC," said Michael Williams Sr. via his Facebook page close to midnight on Thursday evening. "Second I am so sorry to announce that my son will not be fighting AB February 25th due to a unnecessary injury in training camp."

When speaking to this reporter last week, Michael Williams Jr., was very confident that he and his team would shock the world. Oh, what a difference a week makes.

"We're not sure what [Broner] were going to get," said Michael Williams Jr., last week to this reporter as Williams Jr was training hard for a major milestone in fighting Adrien Broner. "We're going to match his energy [that's for sure]!"

Williams Sr. finished his post with the optimistic undertones that the fight could be rescheduled for later this year. No official release or statement has been made by BLK Prime.

"Hopefully the fight will be postponed. I’m sorry. 300%"
