The ratings are in.
Teofimo Lopez outpointed Jamaine Ortiz in a rather uneventful Thursday night event from Las Vegas last week.
The Nielsen Media Research released the rating for the fight and an average audience of 532,000 tuned in to the event. It peaked at 583,000 viewers. The numbers appear low, as Lopez pulled in 945,000 average viewers for his fight with Josh Taylor. That fight peaked at 980,000.
The fight being on a Thursday night could have contributed to the low ratings. Also, the fight occurred the week of the Super Bowl and started at nearly midnight on the East Coast, which limited the live audience.
These numbers also excluded numbers from ESPN+.
Lopez saw a slight increase in ratings from the co-feature. Keyshawn Davis’ sixth-round over two-division world champion Jose Pedraza drew 350,000 average viewers and that performance peaked at 392,000.
The previous Top Rank ESPN telecast saw Artur Beterbiev stop Callum Smith on a Saturday night from Canada. That fight pulled in 691,000 average viewers.
