Loma on Haney "My experience is very important in this fight"

Vasiliy Lomachenko is looking to further secure his hall-of-fame legacy, as he challenges the undisputed lightweight world champion, Devin Haney, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on ESPN pay-per-view, on May 20th.

The now 35-year-old Lomachenko, who has held world titles in three different divisions as a professional along with being a two-time Olympic gold medalist spoke to a group of media prior to a press event in Los Angeles.

One of the most decorated amateurs ever in the sport of boxing - Lomachenko, historically did something unachievable fight for a world title in his second pro fight, and win a world title in his third fight. A feat we had never seen prior, and may never see again.

“My experience is very important in this fight,” said Lomachenko referencing his lengthy career. “We are both boxers of a high level. It will be interesting for boxing.”

For some the fight is the birth of boxing’s next star - Devin Haney, who holds all four world titles, is being compared to someone he was around young in life, Floyd Mayweather. Lomachenko obviously doesn’t see the fight that way, and beyond that, doesn't see the full comparison between Haney and Mayweather.

“Maybe, I don't know [on the comparison of Haney to Mayweather],” explained Lomachenko when a pundit in the scrum asked if Haney is similar to Floyd Mayweather. “For me, not. But for somebody, maybe yes.”
