Jermell Charlo Calls Out Canelo

A few days after Canelo Alvarez picked up a twelve-round unanimous decision win over John Ryder, the undisputed super middleweight world champion, Canelo Alvarez, has been called out by an unlikely new foil - the undefeated junior middleweight world champion, Jermell Charlo. This is not one of the possible opponents we outlined earlier this week for who Canelo would fight next.

During an afternoon Instagram live session on Jermell Charlo's personal account, his attention went abruptly to Canelo Alvarez as offered up the following.

Charlo doubled down as he urged fans of his to tag the social media accounts of Eddie Hearn, who has co-promoted a lot of Canelo Alvarez's fights since 2018 when Canelo Alvarez went to DAZN. Canelo Alvarez, who is widely considered the face of boxing is also in a weight class two division higher than Charlo.

"Why they don't make Canelo fight undisputed," questioned Charlo via an Instagram live today. "Tag Eddie Hearn."

Charlo ended his monologue stating that he hasn't avoided anyone as a pro, and won't avoid Canelo Alvarez. Charlo is currently out of action due to an injury, but it is hoped that he will fight Tim Tszyu in the fourth quarter of 2023.

"Why don't you make Canelo versus Charlo," retorted Charlo. "The [expletive] you talking about. Somebody put that [expletive] together. Little Charlo will fight anybody, [expletive] I ain't never ducked no smoke."
