Jermall Charlo Bets On Ryan Garcia To Beat Tank Davis

The WBC middleweight champion, who has been inactive for nearly two years now, Jermall Charlo took to his social media this weekend to announce something. It wasn’t a fight, rather a proclamation. As we start the biggest fight week of the year, possibly, as we are mere days away from the April 22nd, clash between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia doing battle on pay-per-view, live from the T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Charlo let the whole world know he is betting money on Ryan Garcia to beat Gervonta Davis.

When asked last month during a media scrum at a Showtime pay-per-view event, to promote the David Benavidez vs Caleb Plant event, Charlo explained how he could see Ryan Garcia winning the fight.

“It’s going to be an accident,” said Charlo when asked last month about how Ryan Garcia could win, while in a media scrum. “Remember when Danny Garcia knocked out [Erik] Morales, [Garcia] closed his eyes and knocked him out - it is going to be like that.”

Though not many would compare Jermall Charlo and Ryan Garcia, Charlo brought up some of their similarities as well as explained that his heart is always with the underdog. Charlo might not be confident that Garcia is going to win, but he is pulling for the upset because he loves to cheer for the underdog in the sport of boxing. A sentiment that dates back all the way to the beloved movie, ‘Rocky’.

"I am a ranging fighter, man," said Jermall Charlo last month at a media scrum ahead of David Benavidez's victory over Caleb Plant on pay-per-view. "I'm always going for the underdog, [and] Ryan [is] definitely the underdog in this fight. I just like the underdog...it has nothing to do with personally with Ryan or [with] you know race or black, I don't care about none of that. I just like the underdog, I think [it] is Ryan chance to do what he got to do, but I do I think he'll beat Tank 'No', but who am I going for 'Ryan'"
