Heather Hardy Open To Alycia Baumgardner Fight

One of the most influential fighters in women’s boxing, and a New York legend in her own right, Heather “The Heat” Hardy took to Twitter to break a bit of news.

Hardy who is look at one last chance at glory has now proposed the idea of a fight with the undisputed 130 lbs women's champion,Alycia Baumgardner.

The tweet posted above seems to allude to the fact that if Amanda Serrano needs to heal up from an injury, as she lost her chance to fight Katie Taylor in Ireland, which was previously announced, Hardy would be willing to fight either Serrano or Alycia Baumgardner. Baumgardner recently became the undisputed four-belt 130 lbs champion in Madison Square Garden, when she defeated Elhem Mekhaled by way of a ten-round unanimous decision.

“I was a little sloppy, didn’t come out how I wanted to, not every day is Christmas, and we got the job done,” said Hardy after her win over Taynna Cardoso in February of 2023 to Dakota McCormick of ITRBoxing.com. “I want a title shot next. Amanda [Serrano], they told me after Katie [Taylor], so I am sitting with my hands folded waiting for [Amanda Serrano] to call me in, and I am going to stay ready.”

Before Hardy’s last bout, Hardy lost her long-time coach and mentor, as well as an institution in the New York boxing scene Hector Roca. An emotional Hardy fought a valiant, but aggressive fight against Taynna Cardoso.

“This fight was my first fight without my trainer, my dad, my coach, Hector Roca,” said in reflection as Roca, one of the strongest voices of Gleason’s Gym in New York City, NY, had passed away before this fight.
