Golden Boy fighters showing up to support Phoenix youngsters

Golden Boy Promotions has started fight week.

In the build-up to the Saturday, January 27 main event bout between Jaime Munguia versus John Ryder, a super-middleweight clash with world title implications, Oscar De La Hoya – along with Jaime Munguia, Oscar Collazo, Darius Fulghum, and Gabriela Fundora visited the Boys & Girls Club-Jerry Colangelo Branch.

“Just finished motivating these kids,” said Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya in a video they released after the event.

“Giving them advice, having them hold a championship belt from [Gabriela] Fundora, and Oscar Collazo and Jaime Munguia… the message we give these kids will go a long way, so we are happy to work with the Boys and Girls Club."

The highlight of the event was women's IBF flyweight world champion Fundora putting her world title around the waist of a youngster.

“I love this, I love seeing all their smiles,” said Fundora. “They look so happy. The little ones are always a little more energetic. They are all happy.”

“I like to do this, because I like to be an inspiration,” said Oscar Collazo, the WBO minimumweight champion.
