Golden Boy Prez update on Yokasta Valle-SeniesaEstrada

WBC and WBA strawweight world champion Seniesa Estrada has undeniably left her mark on the landscape of women's boxing, hence why she is listed as one of the best fighters in the world.

From strawweight to flyweight, Estrada has sought opportunities wherever they arise and was seen as the best of her era, and to some the best women's boxer. That was until she met a true rival, Yokasta Valle, who holds the IBF and WBO 105 lbs titles.

ProBox TV News caught up with Golden Boy President Eric Gomez to get more information on this fight as Valle is scheduled to fight on September 16th.

"We have had some conversations about that fight, and explored it earlier in the year," told Eric Gomez to ProBox TV News. "The budget wasn't good enough to make it happen. So I have been in touch over with the folks at Top Rank, and we're going to explore [the Estrada fight] after the [September 16th] fight."

Most people overlook the strawweight class, but given that two of the most interesting modern women's fighters occupy this space - it creates an interesting dynamic, as we could see an undisputed clash between two stars in the sport of boxing.

"So Yoka is going to defend her titles, she will be fighting on the 16th of September, after that fight we will start discussions again and hopefully we can get it done by the end of the year."

Valle said the following at a Golden Boy Promotions media event on Tuesday, September 29th.

"I celebrated my birthday training hard," said Valle. "I'm thankful to Oscar and Golden Boy for remembering my birthday! I will defend my titles and I'll be more than ready to take on the biggest challenges in the sport. The fans will fall in love with me when they watch me inside the ring!"

"We're interested in the fight," furthered Gomez. "It has to make sense. Both fighters are unified champions, it is a big fight. It's got to make sense."

Estrada has spoken to ProBox TV news on multiple occasions as she has publicly called for a fight with Valle. In March of this year, Estrada said the following to ProBox TV News prior to a unification bout against Tina Rupprecht.

"I think Tina [Rupprecht] is tougher than Yoka [Valle],” told Estrada to ProBox TV News. “As far as Yoka [Valle] I am not really concerned about her style…I am going to show that with every performance, especially with this performance, I am going to show I am just on a different level, compared to everyone else who is in my weight division.”

Three months ago, ProBox TV News once again caught up with Estrada, who said the following about why the Valle fight isn't happening.

As for any specifics as of now, the venue is not issue according to Gomez, it is just making the fight make sense for all parties involved.

"We haven't gotten to that, the venue hasn't even been discussed yet," said Gomez. "Yeah, [Valle] is a big star in Costa Rica, and anywhere she fights, the President comes out to here fight...I think if we do get the fight done we have to go somewhere that makes sense for both."
