Gilberto Ramirez and Joe Smith Jr. return to the ring October 7 for a fight at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas.
The two boxers, who will compete at cruiserweight, find themselves in a similar position fighting in a new weight class for the first time seeking a win after a recent defeat.
Ramirez will want to dispatch Smith after losing to Dmitry Bivol, while the American is looking to rebound after a thunderous defeat to Artur Beterbiev.
“I am ready to take over the cruiserweight division and prove to myself that I can add another championship belt to my resume,” Ramirez said, adding that he and Smith were once on a collision course at light heavyweight but that they now get to do it at cruiser.
“I’m glad we can make it now," he said. "See you all in Las Vegas!"
The bout will air on DAZN.
