Gervonta Wants To Face Haney, Shakur and Loma Before Retiring

Sadly, it seems we may not have Gervonta Davis, a complicated, but compelling boxer who has seen himself ascend to the top of the sport of boxing in the past four years. Now a proven draw and a pay-per-view fighter, Davis will look to make his next mark on the sport of boxing on pay-per-view once again, as he faces decorated boxer and social media influencer, Ryan Garcia on April 22nd, in a battle of two of the biggest names in the sport of boxing. The fight which might be the highest grossing of the year is void of a title - as the match-up itself sell the fight.

Recently Gervonta sat down with Speedy Morman of Complex to record a 45-minute interview, which is probably the most compelling and honest piece of content involving Davis prior to this fight. One of the topics is how much longer is Davis planning on fighting and despite only being 28 years old, Davis sees the end in his sights already.

It appears as though Davis has a list of fighters he’d like to face. Once those fights have been accomplished it appears, Davis is quite fine leaving the sport. Some of the names include undisputed lightweight world champion Devin Haney, Vasiliy Lomachenko, and Shakur Stevenson. The names not on his list, are George Kambosos Jnr., and Teofimo Lopez. When facing fighters like Shakur Stevenson and Devin Haney, Davis commented the following.

“That'd be a lot different though,” said Davis about the type of fight when Shakur Stevenson’s name was brought up. “I'm thinking [in terms of how the fight would play out] like a boxer.”

Davis feels as though his match-up with Ryan Garcia is made to be exciting as two power punchers will meet and exchange blows. Some of the others in his division, it appears Davis feels might present a different fight which he outlined.

“I'm just saying like not even Shakur [Stevenson] I'm just saying like them as a whole. It'd be different like fighting them,” said Davis. “It'd be more so like coming to get them.”
