Latest On Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia, Rematch Clause + Venue Update

It seems like a never-ending saga when it comes to Gervonta Davis versus Ryan Garcia, as it feels like we get led down a rabbit hole each and every week as small bits of information seemingly leak out, with an official press release accompanying the bout, yet.

Keith Idec of BoxingScene.com, reported to that he learned some details about the rematch clause for this bout, which according to a flyer shown on the Showtime telecast this past weekend will occur on April 22nd.

"BoxingScene.com has learned that it favors Davis because they are contractually obligated to a rematch only if Garcia defeats Davis in their 12-round, 136-pound bout,” wrote Idec when talking about information he had gathered around this fight. "If Davis loses, he will then have the option of exercising his contractual right to an immediate rematch within a certain amount of time following their fight. If Garcia loses, Davis, who is considered the “A” side of their event, won’t have a contractual obligation to fight him again.”

Though no news has been made about the venue in which the event will be hosted, which is roughly a month-and-a-half-away, well-respected journalist Alan Dawson gave insight to possible venues.

“One of the details from this is that T-Mobile Arena is "aggressive" in its bid to host Tank vs. Garcia, per Stephen Espinoza,” said Alan Dawson of Insider.com, via his Twitter today. An announcement from PBC should arrive in days. There's a chance MGM Grand Garden Arena and Allegiant Stadium, home of the LV Raiders, could host.”

Oscar De La Hoya has been front-and-center in this whole thing, and when everyone involved with the fight confirmed it was happening last Friday, De La Hoya was eager to share his perspective with the world, and how felt he played a role in the negations. De La Hoya has been very vocal using social media to speak on anything to he was not fond of during the process of this fight being made.

“After eight months, I made this fight,” said Oscar De La Hoya in what appears to be an area near the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, as you can see it in the background. “Ryan Garcia, Tank Davis - done deal!”
