Edwin De Los Santos is being largely disrespected by many as he heads into the final month or so of camp for his WBC vacant lightweight world title fight against Shakur Stevenson, on Thursday, November 16th. Stevenson was looking to face other opponents such as Devin Haney, Vasiliy Lomachenko, William Zepeda, Isaac Cruz, and Frank Martin, but both fights fell through. In fact, despite De Los Santos taking the fight the conversation is still about the fights that are not happening.
On Monday, De Los Santos took to his social media to send Stevenson a stern message.
“November 16th, I’m a surprise, Shakur Stevenson,” stated De Los Santos to his social media feed.
De Los Santos willingly accepted the fight when offered, and the bout was scheduled for November 16th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Been that, De Los Santos holds an upset win over Jose Valenzuela. The bout which is in the massive Las Vegas strip arena, The T-Mobile Arena, will also happen during the F1 week, as the F1 race will occur on the Las Vegas strip. The Stevenson versus De Los Santos prizefight will be part of the massive invasion of Las Vegas, Nevada by F1.
So far outside of the formula announcement things have been muted, but De Los Santos seemingly is letting the world know via his social media posts that he is not intimidated by Shakur Stevenson.
Stevenson is a two-division, three-time world champion having won a world title at featherweight and then unified two belts at super featherweight. Stevenson will look to become a champion in three different divisions on that given Thursday.
De Los Santos asserted that the ring is where he is most comfortable, and, Stevenson who is widely believed to be a future pound-for-pound fighter will be in an interesting fight. De Los Santos concluded with a final shot
"In the ring, it’s my house [expletive].”
