Charlo wants to fight Caleb Plant and Canelo

Jermall Charlo, the WBC middleweight world champion who has been inactive for well over two years now took to Instagram to say stuff.  Amongst the opinions expressed during his live-stream was his desire to face Caleb Plant, the man who slapped him recently, and Canelo Alvarez, the man who defeated his twin brother on pay-per-view last week.

The tenor and tone were of revenge. Plant has called out Charlo repeatedly, including on a recent appearance on Gillie and Wallo's podcast 'Million Dollaz Worth of Game.' Charlo despite holding a world title is an inactive fighter, and his last bout was closer to a tune-up than a world championship fight when he went the distance defeating Juan Macias Montiel. Charlo is a big personality and one who brings fanfare, but his last fight was on June 19th, 2021, which feels like a whole different world ago.

“When I get the chance, I’m going to [knock out] Caleb Plant,” said Jermall Charlo on Instagram. “Hey, I’m going to come back and get revenge, watch."

Rumors have now begun to surface that 'Big Charlo' could end up on the November 25th fight card against Jose Benavidez Jr., which would be headlined by David Benaviezversus Demetrius Andrade. Despite this fight card being alleged since August the bout has not been officially announced. Benavidez Jr., a career junior welterweight and welterweight will be fighting at middleweight for only the second time against the great unknown that is this version of Charlo.

So now, if this is true, Charlo would want to look impressive as it could lead to a fight against either Canelo or Caleb Plant. The feuds he has with both fighters are different. Against Plant, it seems it is pride as Plant humiliated him at a weigh-in and slapped him creating a viral moment and making Jermall Charlo look passive which is not what his image is. As for Canelo, he just humiliated his brother, Jermell, on pay-per-view, outclassing and taking the fight out of Jermell. The bout was so one-sided that Charlo brought his children onto his live-stream to talk about how they are being bullied as a result of that fight.
