Edgar Berlanga vs. Jason Quigley, June 24th in New York

Edgar Berlanga now has a return date as the once-famed prospect, who has seen his career stall over the past two-and-a-half years will return with a new promoter, Matchroom Boxing, on June 24th, from the Hulu Theater, at Madison Square Garden, in New York City, New York.

His opponent, Jason Quigley, a decorated Irish boxer, who has had mixed results at the top of the sport.

The news which broke during the telecast of Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez vs. Cristian Gonzalez, will end the career-long 54-week layoff Berlanga has sustained since being suspended for biting Roamer Alexis Angulo on June 11th, in New York City, New York.

Earlier this year, Berlanga announced that he had left his original promoter, Top Rank Inc., on amicable terms, and was pursuing new promoters.

After a bit of time, Berlanga landed on Matchroom Boxing. The deal was alleged to possibly include a Canelo Alvarez fight as part of the way to entice Berlanga.

Quigley went ten rounds with Gabor Gorbics on April 1st of this year, ending a year-and-a-half layoff after being stopped by Demetrius Andrade in two rounds in November of 2021. Quigley’s other career loss was to Tureano Johnson in July of 2019, when Johnson stopped him in nine rounds. In between that time, Quigley did defeat Shane Mosley Jr. prior to the Andrade fight.
