David Benavidez-Demetrius Andrade targeted for November on PPV

David Benavidez might have his next opponent. At least that is according to veteran boxing reporter, Dan Rafael, who was the first to report that super middleweight David Benavidez could return in the fall on pay-per-view, against two-division world champion, Demetrius Andrade.

ProBox TV News spoke to a source close to the situation who detailed more information on this situation, but given the nature of the negotiations currently chose to speak on the grounds of anonymity.

Benavidez has actively pursued a fall fight and is the one looking to make the Andrade fight as the source explained that Andrade appears to be the only fighter available at that given time. The date would be in November with no specific date given nor a venue to note. The source further confirmed that the bout would land on Showtime pay-per-view as well.

This would be Benavidez's second fight of 2023, as he picked up a twelve-round unanimous decision over Caleb Plant on March 25th. This was Benavidez's first time headlining a pay-per-view card in his career and looks to be following that performance up with another pay-per-view fight. Benavidez is a two-time WBC super middleweight world champion and currently holds the interim WBC super middleweight title as he has hoped to land a fight with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

Andrade, a former 2008 U.S. Men's Olympian, is a two-division world champion, holding world titles at junior middleweight and middleweight. Andrade is now 35-years-old, and still hasn't landed a big fight yet, as this would be the biggest event he is involved in. Andrade snapped a year-and-some-change layoff after stopping Jason Quigley in two rounds as he left his former promoter, Matchroom Boxing as well as their distribution partner DAZN, only to surface in January of this year on a Premier Boxing Champions pay-per-view, that was headlined by Gervonta Davis stopping Hector Luis Garcia. Andrade went on to get a ten-round unanimous decision over Demond Nicholson.
