Benavidez-Andrade official for November 25th

At lunchtime on the west coast, the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada sent out a post on social media. confirming David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade with a poster attached for a fight on November 25th. The fight which would be for the WBC interim super middleweight title also had the words PPV on it meaning this bout will land on Showtime pay-per-view.

The bout also appears on the Premier Boxing Champions website with a brief summary of the bout in one paragraph confirming the fight will be at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino.

The bout will not go on at the same time, but will occur on the same day as a big fight for DAZN and Matchroom that will see Chantelle Cameron rematch Katie Taylor in Dublin, Ireland after Cameron did the unthinkable and beat Taylor in their first fight.

In recent times, David Benavidez (27-0, 23 KO) has been a force to be reckoned with in the super middleweight division as he is one of the biggest punchers in the modern era combining speed with power. Benavidez recently stopped David Lemieux and defeated Caleb Plant on pay-per-view earlier this year. This would mark his second fight in 2023 as he looks to land the Canelo Alvarez fight he has wanted for his whole career. A win here and a mandate from the WBC would likely see Benavidez finally land a Canelo fight.

On the other side of the ring, Demetrius Andrade (32-0, 19 KO) would find himself in a career-defining bout, against Benavidez as he has been void of meaningful fights for the past five or so years, possibly even longer. After relinquishing his middleweight belt, Andrade has struggled to find a notable name in his third weight class. Andrade is a two-weight world champion, who now looks to become a three-weight world champion, with hopes of also landing a Canelo Alvarez fight as well.
