Anderson Silva is an MMA legend and one of the fighters who made the UFC universally known in the United States. Now Silva sits in a unique situation despite being nearly 50 years old, he has a first-hand perspective to both the talents of Jake Paul, who he fought last year, and Nick Diaz, who he fought in the last decade in the UFC. Though Nate Diaz is the brother of Nick Diaz, they are unique in bringing a distinctive style to the ring.
Though Jake Paul will face Nate Diaz, on August 5th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, as the brother of Nick Diaz, of the famed Diaz Brothers of Stockton, California, are known for their persona as much as their fight careers. Some have compared it to a “Stone Cold” Steve Austin-type attitude of teenage rebellion manifesting itself in the adult form. Both Diaz brothers freely admit to smoking weed, and though very sincere also are not the image corporate America probably wishes to push forward to sell a product. For Silva, the fight isn’t about power, but rather another elite attribute of the fight game, timing.
Silva believes that experience is a part of the fight, but that it is hard to tell who will become the victor as Paul has devoted his life to the sport of boxing, whereas as Nate Diaz has been a jack-of-all-trades fighting in mixed martial arts for nearly three decades.
“I don't know it's very tough,” said Silva when asked who will win the upcoming bout which will be broadcast on DAZN pay-per-view. “You know, it's very tough because everybody thinks Jake is not training boxing, but Jake is training a lot.”
When asked about the difference between the two - Silva made it clear. Paul might have an edge on the inside, but Paul will have prepared himself for a different type of mentality when entering the ring on that fight night. Silva says fighting a Diaz brother is different than fighting many other opponents because you have to be ready for anything.
“you know [Jake Paul is] very smart in the short distance,” said Silva to Fight Hub TV. “You know, Nate is a beast, know when you go inside to fight with Nick Diaz or Nate Diaz you need to prepare yourself for war because [both of the Diaz Brothers fight] crazy."
