The latest edition of ProBox TV’s Contender Series is set to light up the ring with an intriguing featherweight showdown between Arnold Khegai and Joet Gonzalez...
This thrilling main event will take place on Saturday, March 8, at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California, with the action kicking off at 4:10pm PT.
Khegai (22-1-1, 14 KOs), the Ukrainian powerhouse now training in Los Angeles at the renowned Wild Card Boxing Club, enters the 10-round bout on a six-fight win streak. The 32-year-old is currently ranked in the top 15 by three major sanctioning bodies in the 126-pound division, making him a serious threat to anyone in the featherweight ranks.
Standing in his way is the determined Joet Gonzalez (26-4, 15 KOs) from Los Angeles. At 31 years old, Gonzalez has challenged for world titles three times and is hungry for another shot at glory. This crossroads bout could be his ticket back to the top.
The co-main event will be just as captivating, featuring the US debut of rising Mexican lightweight star Luis “Koreano” Torres (20-1, 11 KOs) from Ciudad Obregon. He'll face off in a 10-round battle against former WBA featherweight champion Nicholas Walters (29-1-1, 22 KOs) from Montego Bay, Jamaica, in a bout that promises fireworks.
In another exciting 10-round welterweight clash, Mexico’s Jesus Saracho (14-2-1, 11 KOs) will square off with Louie Lopez (16-2-2, 5 KOs) of Corona, California, in what’s sure to be a high-energy encounter, while Kilkenny, Ireland’s Brandon McCarthy (4-0, 1 KO), who now lives and trains in LA, will face South Gate’s Jose Rodriguez (7-2, 3 KOs) in a six-round lightweight battle.
The undercard will also feature several other compelling bouts. Joshua Anton (9-0, 8 KOs) will meet Tariq Green (5-3-2, 3 KOs) in a six-round junior middleweight fight, while in a junior lightweight showdown, Justin Viloria (7-0, 5 KOs) will take on Nicaragua’s Juan Centeno (8-19-4, 1 KO) over six. And to kick things off, the Laredo Texan Emilio Garcia will make his pro debut in four rounds against Guadalajara’s Jose “El Topo” Adolfo (2-6, 2 KOs) at welterweight.
