Cardenas, 25-1 (14 KOs), will headline in his home city against fellow junior featherweight contender Acosta, 21-0 (9 KOs) in a terrific matchup. Cardenas is ranked No. 2 by the WBA, No. 8 by the IBF, and No. 10 by the WBO, while Acosta ninth at junior featherweight by the WBA and 14th at featherweight by the IBF. The winner could fight for a vacant title against WBA No. 1 Murodjon Akhmadaliev should champion Naoya Inoue choose to vacate.
Former IBF junior lightweight champion, the all-action Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov, returns on ProBox TV after losing his title to Joe Cordina in April 2023. Rakhimov, 17-1-1 (14 KOs), will make his lightweight debut against Justin Pauldo, 17-2 (8 KOs).
Also on the card, rising bantamweight star Michael Angeletti, 12-0 (7 KOs), gets a tough test in the shape of Judy Flores, 14-3 (8 KOs). Figo Ramirez, 8-0 (4 KOs) and Rianna Rios, 8-0 (1 KO), both feature in six rounders against Jose Lopez, 4-3-3, and Nancy Franco, 19-21-2 (5 KOs), respectively.
A host of local fighters will also feature in the non-televised prelims. Sylvestre Quinonez (8-0-1, 3 KOs), Ethan Perez (4-0, 2 KOs), Jacobo Morin (2-1, 2 KOs), Emiliano Alvarado (5-0, 3 KOs) and Daniel Cortez (10-0, 7 KOs) will all feature, with Amador Mendez and Amanda Sendejo making their professional debuts.
