Antonio Moran Wins Last-Chance Tournament

Who says dreams can’t come true in boxing?

Antonio Moran is now $50,000 richer and now is on a career-high after stopping Kendo Castaneda in the tenth and final round of their bout which was the finals match of ProBox TV’s Last Chance Tournament at 140 lbs.

“The money will make for a great Christmas for my family. I will rest for two to three weeks and then return to the gym and see what will be next for 2023," said Moran after the knockout victory.

Moran entered the tournament with a knockout loss to Devin Haney, as well as one-sided decision losses to Arnold Barboza Jr., and Jose Pedraza, but now has experienced a career renaissance, thanks to the ProBoxTV tournament.

"We prepared for a tough fight and the result is here with this trophy,” said Moran. “I had to maintain my distance and outbox him. I didn’t want to let him within my guard because he would catch me with lead-left hooks to the head when I dropped my hands."

Moran’s path was not easy by any means. A first-round eight-round decision over Jeffery Torres, then an upset over tournament favorite, Michael Dutchover, and concluding with his only stoppage win of the tournament when he stopped Kendo Castaneda.

Winning this event bring new life to Moran's career and new opportunities that were not available prior to the advent of this event.

Castaneda will not go home empty-handed as he will earn $25,000 for making it to the finals.

The bout was called to a halt at 1:28 of the tenth round when referee Emil Lombardi had seen enough.

The co-main event saw lightweight slugger Manuel Madueno knockout Juan Huertas in five rounds with the bout being stopped at the 2:15 mark of the aforementioned round. Madueno coming off his first career loss to Jezreel Corrales looked unstoppable and picked up the WBO lightweight Latino title in the process.

A battle of unbeaten lightweight saw Ezequiel Borrero outlast Carlos Rosario en route to a six-round decision.

Two ProBox Promotions prospects looked the part of future world title contenders as super featherweight Dominic Valle got a six-round decision over Jose Antonio Meza, as Valle got valuable ring time that will prep him for future fights, as Valle has only gone 15 rounds over the course of five professional fights.

Super middleweight Daniel Blancas got a first-round knockout over Carlos Cruz as the fight was stopped with one second left in the first round, at 2:59.
